Dear friends,

The number of questions, requests, ideas I have received on Instagram about skincare and beauty has made me happily surprised. For those who are not on Instagram: I will be starting a series of Reels, Stories, and (blog) posts on clean skincare and beauty products on November 14th. These will be casual attempts to share with you what I have discovered in these past few years when I decided to have and maintain hormone balance. This has been a long and truly “holistic” journey- more on that later.

Today, with this announcement, and following the requests from some of you, I wanted to list here a few supplements, mixes, and meal programs that I have been using, and which I recommend for healthy skin.

This will be a quick note, because, some of you know that we are house hunting and so much is happening simultaneously. To all of you who have been sending us good energy, best wishes, and prayers: Thank you, thank you so very much. I will let you know if we can finally settle down, since we are getting tired of having to move from one place to another.

Even though this is a short note, please please let me know if you have any questions about anything below. There is nothing that makes me happier these days than hearing from you. Much love to you all!

Sakaralife: Meal Delivery, beauty water, detox water, supplements and probiotics

I mentioned SakaraLife meal delivery before, as one of the 5 brands that have been helpful when life got much busier, suddenly. Every bite of their meals is healthy and yummy. Every bite. It’s quite fascinating, really. Their meals are full of antioxidants, which is almost synonymous with good skin health. They are low glycemic foods, which help prevent premature aging. Every meal has a variety of carotenoids, phytoestrogens, healthy fats, vitamins (especially vitamins C, D, A, and E!). On top of that, their plant-based, sulfur-rich, hydration-oriented foods alleviate the skin-aging effects of hormone imbalance. One thing I love about this program is that you don’t have to commit- you can easily (and I mean this) cancel any time, AND skip your deliveries. You don’t have to have all three meals, either. Many people do Intermittent Fasting, and they only get lunch and dinner. Another thing I love is the creative ways in which they use plants: They crafted dishes like their Gardner’s Focaccia, which uses all the nutrient-dense parts of the plants, from stems to seeds. Find out more about their pillars of nutrition here, and if you still don’t want to commit right away, you can consider the 10 day reset.

For the last two months, I have been using the beauty water in the morning, and detox water at night. I also recommend their essential nutrients (including plant-based omega 3 and B vitamins, as well as adaptogens) to anyone asking for clean supplements. I have used that product twice with great results. Another product I have been using daily is Sakara Probiotics. This is my absolute favourite probiotics to take. Finally, the youth and beauty tea. I take this almost daily. I absolutely LOVE the taste, but the ingredients are even better: Schisandra, saw palmetto, gynostemma, gotu kola, reishi, hibiscus-all of these will be familiar to those studying/ reading about Eastern Medicine. I mention them often about hormone health, skin health, immune health.

Not directly related to skincare, but I recently (as in, just last week) discovered another Sakara product: Sakara metabolism powder. I CANNOT believe how tasty it is. I was not expecting it to be tasty, but I mix it with warmed milk, a little coconut sugar, and I swear it’s like hot chocolate!

They also have Beauty Bars and Beauty Chocolates, both of which are delicious, but I don’t use those regularly. I would not say no if someone wants to gift them to me! But I’d rather spend my $$ on the meals and the supplements.

Now the fun part: You can use the code XOIVY (flirty, isn’t it?) to get a 20% discount on your first order from Sakara. This is valid for everything- from the meal delivery to their more serious detox program, from the reset to the supplements.

Again, email/DM me with any questions!

Yoursuper Beauty Bundle

Now, don’t get me wrong. I do NOT believe in miracle products, but I do know since I started to incorporate certain products in my daily life, my skin health has improved. Granted, sleep deprivation which comes with having a baby/toddler will not let me have the ideal skin until my kiddo goes to college:) But my sun spots have significantly diminished since I started to use the products in the Yoursuper Beauty Bundle and the most recent addition, the Plant Collagen Support. If you have been following the blog and/or my Instagram for a while, you will know how much I LOVE Yoursuper products, and these are among my favourites. The Plant Collagen Support has such a creamy texture, and is so yummy, that I imagine it will be easy for anyone to incorporate in their daily life.

Gaia Hair, Skin & Nail Support

I have used many Gaia products in years. I trust this brand completely, and have added their products to my plant based resources page. One of the products I used postpartum was the Hair, Skin & Nail Support. My female friends had warned me about hair loss after giving birth, and I wanted to do my best to not lose any hair. For Ayurveda lovers here, I am of Pitta constitution to begin with- we tend to be hairless:) So I started to take this supplement and I had no problem whatsoever. This product has horsetail (amazing for hair growth), gotu kola (number one for tissue health), and Gaia-grown Nettle (see here and here as to why I love nettle).

HELLO REAL LIFE!

Welcome! My name is Ivy. I am an academic by training and a foodie at heart, in a small but mighty body. I am back to a 4-year school to study Ayurvedic nutrition and Traditional Chinese Medicine. When I have time from school and our two-year-old, I like to read, write, bake, and consume more Medjool dates and dried figs than anyone I know.

Shakingmytofu aims to make plant-based life convenient, affordable, and adaptable for everyone. I will be happy if I can bring a little more light, health, and peace to the daily life. Feel free to spend time, have a look at the recipes, lists of plant-based sources (from snacks to clothing), images and articles.
