Pregnancy, 5-element theory, and nurturing yourself

August 23, 2018 by Ivy Chan

Hello everyone, I am back “home” to my beloved, our cats, and the new apartment. I say “home” in quotation marks, because, every time one spends away from their loved one(s), one realizes that they can make “home” in any town, any location, any condition, as long as they are together, trusting, and loving. I…

Hello from the Mediterranean!

August 13, 2018 by Ivy Chan

Dearest people, I know I have been awol these last couple of months, but, please try to imagine the following picture. I was still working until mid- July. I resigned, which, as you can appreciate, takes its toll, both mentally, and physically. There were forms to fill, people to talk to, financial plans to consider,…

Better digestion, clear skin and a delicious non-alcoholic margarita!

June 18, 2018 by Ivy Chan

I have been getting my energy back. Slowly, but surely. These last two weeks have been a roller coaster- scary possibilities, tests, then good news, scary possibilities, tests, then more good news. Between these hospital visits and work, I did not have the energy (or the mental capacity) for much else. I have been reading…

Pregnancy, self-image, and how to deal with it all

June 2, 2018 by Ivy Chan

If I never came back to New York, if he did not wait for me when I was late to our first date, if he was not so funny, so charming, or if he did not keep in touch when I left again for my beloved Mediterranean, just like that, if he did not ask…

What is a personal constitution? (And why you might need it, too!)

May 7, 2018 by Ivy Chan

My last post was about how Trello helps me organize my entire life. In that post, you might have seen that there is a “Self Improvement” board. I did not explain then what that category was about. Today, I will talk about a crucial part of my “Self Improvement”- my personal constitution. What is a…

How this one tool helps me organize all my life

April 25, 2018 by Ivy Chan

Which one of these people are you: Person number one: You ask them where the remote control is, they point at a pair of stockings on the kitchen countertop- the remote is under the stockings. What?! You ask them for cash to tip the pizza guy, they grab a few dollars from beneath the cushions…

Are you Temporarily out of order? What to do when you have too much to do

March 17, 2018 by Ivy Chan

“I am getting worried. Lethargic is not your usual self.” This was the response I got when I canceled yet another engagement. This time I told the truth: I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open, I feel exhausted. I don’t want to do this right now. I told the truth. And yes,…

Pssst! The Ultimate Cheat Sheet on Insecurity

March 10, 2018 by Ivy Chan

The more I observe people (including myself and my loved ones) the better I see that insecurity is the source of most, if not all, of our problems. To put it simply, we all have insecurities. And sometimes, these insecurities hurt us, destroy our relationships, and affect our wellbeing. This problem is so common that it…

5 Life-Changing Habits to Feel Better Everyday

February 24, 2018 by Ivy Chan

One of my resolutions for 2018 is to practice mindfulness. I want to make mindfulness a habit so I will practice it without having to condition myself. If you ask me, mindfulness is being aware- being aware of the conversation I am having at that moment, aware of what I am eating, how it tastes,…

HELLO REAL LIFE!

Welcome! My name is Ivy. Classical with a twist, married to the love of my life, a proud mum of two little lions, and one little human. We have recently moved to the gorgeous state of Washington.

My practice, Ivy Chan Wellness, unites ancient wisdom with modern knowledge. I was born into a family in the Middle East, my roots run deep with the knowledge of my ancestors—nomadic healers who passed down their wisdom through the generations. But my path led me on a different journey, one that would intertwine my passion for education with my quest for healing.

With a Ph.D. in Sociology, and a passion for nurturing minds, I have always seen myself as an educator. I believe in empowering individuals to become their own healers, rewrite their stories and redefine their relationship with their bodies, their hearts, and their overall well-being.

Through years of study and self-discovery, I have cultivated expertise in women’s health and wellness. My focus lies in helping my sisters find their most powerful selves at every stage of their lives. I want us not just to survive, but to thrive!

At Ivy Can Wellness, you will discover a sanctuary for transformation and growth. It is a place where the ancient traditions of healing seamlessly blend with the latest knowledge in Ayurvedic nutrition, yoga therapy, and holistic wellness. There, you will find the tools, resources, and guidance you need to embark on your personal journey of healing and self-discovery.

Shakingmytofu, on the other hand, aims to make plant-based life convenient, affordable, and adaptable for everyone. I will be happy if I can bring a little more light, health, and peace to the daily life. Feel free to spend time, and have a look at the recipes, lists of plant-based sources (from snacks to clothing), images and articles.

I invite you to embark on this extraordinary journey of self-discovery and well-being with me. Together, let’s shape our stories, rewrite our narratives, and embrace a life of vitality, joy, and balance.

Contact me anytime with queries, suggestions, and collaboration ideas at shakingmytofu@gmail.com or simply by filling out the form below. Look forward to hearing from you!
